FUN MONDAY --- Clothes that must be kept

I have kept several pieces of vintage clothing that I can't part with and did throw away several more that I wish I had kept. This is a photo of hubby in his college cheerleading sweater and me in my pep club sweater and poodle skirt(except it had a fuzzy cat instead of a dog). The full net slip isn't my original but one I found in an antique store in San Diego. And Yes, this picture was taken 100 years ago.

My Wedding dress is also downstairs in a box. When I was working after high school the really nice dress shop down the block from my office always had a "Wedding Dress of the Month." This was February's dress and I fell in love with it. I wasn't even dating anyone at the time. I put it on lay-a-way and paid small amounts on it for a long time. Two years later I wore it when I married in the month of February.

Great post. I love the wedding dress story, wonderful foresight. I only thing I ever bought ahead of time like that was a set of dishes. I was 18, and figured I'd get married some day, and I really liked those dishes.

Those were the days my friend... I am glad that you have your wedding dress. Unfortunately, I do not have mine. (I did keep the husband.)

There is a balance between keeping and not keeping stuff. At one point in time the answer will be different than another point in time. Good choices you have shown.

Love your vintage clothing items! I've never seen a kitty instead of poodle dog, how unique! The wedding dress and picture were beautiful! I found my wedding dress in an antique shop, long before I was even dating Kevin! I just fell in love with it! ;)

We used to use my mom's poodle skirt to dress up in... I adored it!

My mom has her cake top from their wedding day on a shelf in her guest room. It looks just like my parents did in wedding pictures. I remember for her 20th anniversary, she tried her dress on and it still fit. They celebrate 50 this year. Should I suggest she try it on again? It would probably fit her still!

These are great photos of you and your husband in your vintage gear, well it wasn't vintage then. It was forward thinking for you to keep these items, how many people keep their clothes, I haven't. Lucky it wasn't me that bought the wedding dress, I have been with my better half for 25 years and we still haven't got around to getting married. Now that dress would have been vintage by now! x
