MIKE AND KANDICE MAY 2, 2008

An Old Apache Wedding Prayer:
"Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. Now there will be no loneliness, for each of you will be companion to the other. Now you are two persons, but there is only one life before you. May beauty surround you both in the journey ahead and through all the years. May happiness be your companion and your days together be good and long upon the earth".

NO-NO-NO- NOT CRAFTS!!!!!!!!!

Just checked "I'm a farm girl" assignment for this week and the assignment was "Show us your crafts". I was afraid this was coming. Oh, woe is me---the talent train so didn't stop at my station. I actually know people that can take a roll of paper towels, some cotton balls and 6 feet of colored ribbon and redo their living room in time for the photographer from Architectural Digest to catch an early dinner. Women in my family are wonderfully talented. My Mother is a well-known fine china painter and comes from a long line of artists. My daughters and daughter's in law all "put things together" with just the right touches. I cannot do it. I can see something and know that I like it or not but can't put it together from scratch. The closest I came lately was walking into the mill at Gardner Village, seeing an item in the entrance, and announcing to the sales lady nearby, "That's going home with me". I don't even know where I'm going to put it.

But I have to complete this assignment so here goes: I always make 3 quilts for new grandbabies. 1. a receiving blanket that I crochet the edge around 2. a cute tied quilt and 3. a Cabin quilt, usually flannel and a cabin print.

I just completed a father's day gift for our son for his 1st fathers day. It takes about 9 months to complete and I can't show it here because it's a surprise-- but take my word for it- it qualify's as a craft.

Also this is a shelf on my kitchen wall that just screams "I garden". It used to look 4 times this crowded until I decided that less was better.
