Most people put their decorating skills towards their wall inside their house. Alas, I really have no decorating skills but do have lots of fun "Wall" items, but they are hung on the outside of the cabin.
The story of the plaque goes like this: In the depression hobo's would chalk the image of a cat on a gate or fence to signify that the lady of this house would give you something to eat. I gave one to several friends and to my Mother who always seemed to be feeding the masses when we were growing up.
I love these geese. They came facing right or facing left. I bought them facing left because
when I hung them on the deck wall they are headed North or returning for the summer.
A gift from one of our children
Horseshoe from my Dad's barnyard
We have rustic signs with each family members name on it hanging on the big wall outside. These are the names we added over the last yearl.

Love the cabin walls...but my favorite would have to be the 'hobo plaque'. I'm glad you shared the history of the whole concept. That's cool!!!
Come see my walls if you dare.
For someone claiming to have no decorating talent, you have shown us some wonderful decorations. Your cabin must be a fabulous place. After this Fun Monday, you could go into business selling the cat plaque. I want some; one for me and some for my friends.
I love all these cabin-y items! The geese really caught my eye, and I like how you have them flying back for the summer! The cat is great. I love cool cat things, and I had never heard the hobo story before.
The wreath is beautiful, and I love all the names. When is ? coming?
I love the cat idea! I love your north headed geese! But I am fondest of your horse-shoe. It reminds me of those I found in my grandpa's barnyard a long time ago. I wish I still had them.
I'm glad you posted about the outside walls. I love those geese, too, and I've a sucker for wreaths. Do the birds nibble on it?
Oh how fun! I love your outdoor art!
These are all beautiful plaques. I really like the 'hobo' story. I also like the geese, in fact I like them all and would not be able to choose a favourite!
I love this. It's fabulous, absolutely gorgeous. I covet your home. :D
I love your hangings! :) Why the question? Someone pregnant?
I love all things moose and rustic. :)
What a fun way to have art outside. I love it all. We have a cabin on our property along with our home.. The cabin was here first. I do have one piece of art outside, I think I will post it tomorrow. You have inspired me, :)
Great post with interesting art.
Jeanne
I love them!! I think that is a very neat idea
oooh i love your walls ... i think my favorite is the geese!
I had heard the story about the cat as sign of hospitality. How original all of your outdoor "wall" hangings are. The ? mark plaque makes me smile. Have you shown pictures of your cabin on your blog? If not, something tells me many of us would love to see it--nosy(politely curious?) people that we are.
I must have a cat plaque!!!!
Hi Judy
Thanks for entering mu blog give away! I'll be looking forward to your 100 post too!
Your wall signs and pictures aare all great! I love the cat symbol and what it signifies, and I love the grandchildren's names on the wall, and the geese flying back north to signify spring again.
Hugs, Pat
I love all those signs :)
I should give the cat one to my mom.
Have a wonderful time in your beautiful cabin...

To Faye: The masthead photo is taken from our dock. I haven't shown pictures of the cabin yet but I will over the summer. We just arrived 2 weeks ago and it snowed and rained the 1st week. Sayre: I'll send you a pencil tracing of the cat if you email me your address. I bought this one and then made copies for my mom and friends.
To Those who ask: ? is due on Christmas Day.
Judy, your cabin walls are picture perfect! I love all your signs. The ? sign is so cute. Congratulations!
What a wonderful place to call home.
Pat
That was fun! I loved the geese best....Carol xx
What a fabulous post..........I particularly like the geese, they are wonderful.
I am sure the horseshoe from your Dad's barn hold many dear memories.
How cool! I live in a condo and can't hang stuff on the outside of my home anymore, except for the door. I had a whole cluster of Welcome signs when I owned a free-standing home. Your variety is great.
