NAME THE "HOMEPLACE" CONTEST

View from our dock

It's as if I'm in a "blogging" frenzy this evening. I may need a 12 step program. O.K. I've joined
both of Maggie's contests. Only in this one I may have a problem. We rotate our lives between 3 "homes". Our hearts live year round at our cabin in the Colorado mountains where we spend 5 months in the summer. Jan. & Feb. we rent a condo in California and the fall and spring months we spend at our main residence which is nice and roomy but really just a very large storage unit (man, I hope I haven't hurt it's feelings.) Our cabin is tiny but large enough to store memories of 35 years with our family and good friends. We have actually thought of giving it a name because so many of the cabins in the area have cute catchy names and then there are the others with not so cute catchy names. And the last thing we wanted to do was give it a name that didn't do it justice. Anyway, after 35 years of thinking that our cabin needed a "name" we finally decided on one.

"THE CABIN". That says it all and it's all that needs to be said. Two words were never said with more feeling, love and longing.

What a FABULOUS cabin and view. I've long wondered just where you live! Do you live in Utah ever? I have got to learn how you give a link without writing out the entire address and just writing one word...how is that done!!!!!Everyone but me can do it:)I'm going to Trinidad in the early morning for 8 days so won't have access to my library. But thanks for including me in your tag. You ARE grand!

How very lovely those photos are! My family had "the cabin" growing up so I know exactly what you're talking about. Nothing else would do for a name.

The Cabin is perfect, Judy.

We had a sign, that once belonged to J's aunt, over our garage at the farm. It was homemade and read, simply, thisisit. That pretty well summed up what we thought of our home on the farm, but as it turned out, we had another home come along and I'm sure we'll have another, when this one gets to be too much for us.

Although we have a condo, at the lake, we've always longed for a cabin in the Ozarks. Perhaps, one day we'll have that place and will again hang a sign over the door, that reads "thisisit".

Hi Judy.....How beautiful is that view. The cabin sounds perfect, I can tell from your writing that a part of your heart is there.
A lovely post.

What beautiful pictures--they could both be postcards! I would just love to have a view like that from my window! I like your name choice as well.

I am so jealous that you have a cabin! AND you have moose...mooses? meece??... you know what I mean ;) I'll have to talk to Rich about getting one of those. Do you think the HOA will mind? LOL

Beautiful pictures, The Cabin seems like a perfect name. Love the moose too! Reminds me a lot of Alaska. Huge Thank You! You identified my dead spider bush. It is a Magnolia Bush. It seems they are hard to grow and expensive to buy so I guess I will keep it, LOL.

I love the name! Growing up, we called my gradparents house "The Ranch," so I truly appreciate the beauty of a simple, perfect name.

we call ours "the cabin" by default, but we actually did name it, "Peace of the Rock" because it is built on a large natural limestone slab on the side of our mountain. And because we go there to renew peace of course! So now we can honestly say, we have a peace of the rock! lol!

How peaceful! I'd live there year-round. The moose photo is great--ol' marauders.

Thank you for letting us dream over your water for a moment.

Judy, I did figure out how to do the link properly. Thank you for the heads up!

So beatuiful. You live in a wonderful place.
The Cabin...great name. Sounds solid and strong to me.
My cottage is called Park Cottage...I am not mad about the name but cannot change it. I would have like to have called it Mulberry or Yew Cottage, but we do not have either of those trees in the garden so it would have been silly!!!
