TRAIL RIDGE ROAD

Trail Ridge Road is the highest paved continuous road in the United States. (Please let me have that right.) It runs through Rocky Mountain National Park from Estes Park to Grand Lake. It is usually cleared of snow and open around Memorial Day. It's a beautiful summer drive and peaks at just over 12,000 feet above sea level. Leaves some people a little short of breath but usually its attributed to the views. These photo's were taken the 2nd week in June.

There is a 2 foot rock wall under the snow and the view below

is what you would see if the snowbank wasn't there.

Snowbank along road near the top.

Colorado River on the West Side. This is where the kids usually put the canoe in to come downriver.
